Disneyland Exploits

Day one: I refused to get out of bed which put us behind an hour for the LONG drive. The children did well in the car. We stopped for breakfast in Cedar City. Renee ordered Who pancakes at IHOP and only ate the sucker out of the middle. Rose and Reed didn't eat much more. All in all, money well wasted!

Day two: Our first day at Disneyland. We rode as many rides as we could. The only out-of-the-ordinary thing to happen was seeing Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) while waiting in line for Splash Mountain.

Day three: We started the day at California Adventures on the Hollywood Tower of Terror. It was not Renee's favorite ride, but she was a good sport and ended up riding it a total of 3 times. I got to ride the California Screamin'-my favorite roller coaster. Most memorable moment of the day...Renee screaming and crying, "I AM tall enough! I AM tall enough!" (When she came up about an inch short for Grizzly Rapids. She cried herself to sleep while Bryan and the other two kids got themselves soaked.)

Day four: More Disneyland! Bryan made us reservations to eat at the Blue Bayou. Let's just say that the art of fine dining was completely lost on my kids.

Day five: We spent the first half of the day at Laguna Beach. I wanted to spend the entire day listening to the ocean, but I was outnumbered 4 to 1. We went home, showered and headed off for more Disney adventures.

Day six: Our longest (and hottest) day at the park! We started in Disneyland, crossed over to California Adventures, then back to Disneyland. We watched the parade, Fantasmic!, and the fireworks. I have to say that the Fantasmic! show was incredible!

Day seven: The LONG drive home. Glad to be back!

Despite long lines, we did ride the Finding Nemo submarines and thought that it was really awesome; and for the first time in years we were able to ride the Matterhorn and the Haunted Mansion. (They've been closed the last few times we were there.) Renee chose to wait in lines for rides rather than wait in lines to meet the Princesses...go figure! We did manage to meet Snow White and Ariel though.

All in all, we had a great time! I don't think I'll ever do 5 days of Disneyland again...it was two days too many and even the kids agree.

A whole lot of nothing!

I know, I know...it's past time that I post something new! I just can't think of much to say. I could report that the kids had a dentist appointment...no cavities. Or, tell you how fun it was to take all three kids to the mall...but I'm not going to insult your intelligence, you know I'd be lying! Enjoy some new pictures instead...afterall, a picture is worth a thousand words...right?!?

Love the sunglasses babe!

We can't wait to go to Disneyland!

GREED! It's the only logical explanation.

The tickets for Stadium of Fire went on sale today at 5:00 p.m. and sold out so quickly, that I couldn't get any added to my cart. Not suprising when BYU was allowing people to purchase up to 25 tickets for the event. What is really irritating, is that 5 minutes after it sold out, people were listing their "extra" tickets on ksl.com for a whole lot more than what they paid for them. When I last checked (30 minutes ago), prices on ksl.com ranged from $100/ticket to $350/ticket. (Original ticket prices were $35 to $120.) I am beyond frustrated. If you want to purchase extra tickets to sell...great! But do you have to be so greedy? Honestly all you grown-ups with dollar signs in your eyes...it's the kids who are dying to go...at least give them a chance.

P.S. It's nearly 8:30 p.m. and I just checked ksl.com again...prices now range from $200/ticket (hard to find) up to $750/ticket. Are you kidding me?!?

My kids LOVED this...

I couldn't believe it!!! Even my Rose, who doesn't like anything, had seconds! And it doesn't require a lot of ingredients or preparation...that's the kind of recipe I love :)!

Teriyaki Salmon

3/4 cup teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup maple syrup
4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)

In a small bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce and syrup. Set aside 1/4 cup for basting. Pour remaining marinade in to a large Ziploc bag; add salmon. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 15 minutes. Drain & discard marinade. Coat grill rack or broiler pan with non-stick cooking spray. Place fillets skin side down. Grill, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 inches from heat for 8-12 minutes, basting frequently with reserved marinade. Serves 4.
