Happy 12th Birthday Reed!
We celebrated the big day with family on Sunday. Reed spent his actual birthday up at Camp Steiner. It's hard to believe that my baby boy is 12...old enough to go on a week long Boy Scout camp and pass the sacrament on Sundays and start middle school! Where does the time go?

Should've known better!
Tonight, Bryan and I went shopping for Reed's birthday. Renee went with us. Can you guess what the first words out of her mouth were as soon as she saw her big brother? "We bought you..." to which Reed replied, "Awesome, thanks Mom!" So much for suspense and surprise!
I guess when you've shared an experience as harrowing as the Sun Wheel at California Adventures...you just can't keep secrets from one another!

Independence Day!
Our holiday was totally unscripted and laid back. We went out to eat with my dad & mom. Watched some tv (a History channel documentary on the Revolutionary War) and set off a few fireworks. Reed was the fireworks specialist this year, setting off as many as 4 at the same time. On the down side, Bryan & Renee both burned their hands during the course of our celebration so next year, we are going to go SEE a fireworks show instead of do one! (I don't think Renee will ever pick up a sparkler again.)

6 Quirks...
Tagged by Leslie, so here are 6 of a billion funny? little things...
1. I have a handwriting complex. At some point during my impressionable youth, my father told me that I needed to develop nice handwriting, and a new obsessive-compulsive habit was born! Anytime I hand write anything, whether it be a check, a thank you note, a list, or a journal entry...if it's not "perfect", then I have to rewrite it and throw the less than perfect one away. I can't begin to imagine how much paper I've thrown away simply because I don't like the way my handwriting looked. Thank heaven for computers!
2. I don't like to cook, but I love to read cookbooks! Nearly everytime I sit down to eat a meal, I drag out one of my cookbooks and browse through the recipes while I eat.
3. I love the smell of Thoro and am devestated that they no longer sell it.
4. I also love the aroma of fresh coffee. (No, I don't drink it.) My favorite aisle in the grocery store is the cereal aisle because it has the coffee beans at the end. Mmmmm, heaven!
5. I don't do well in large groups. I get overwhelmed, flustered and and my mouth just starts spewing all sorts of dumb things. (Which will undoubtedly keep me up all night berating myself for my own stupidity and thinking of what I SHOULD have said.) UGH!
6. I alphabetize my movies and music CDs. Yet another manifestation of my obsessive-compulsiveness!
Feel free to consider yourself tagged!

Are you kidding?
I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but I was bored and needed a new post!
