Piano lessons started back up yesterday. Students are choosing pieces to prepare for recital and Federation. This is always hard for me...trying to guide their choices to pieces that they'll enjoy (which means they will actually practice!) but will challenge them a little. Some of my students I know well enough that I can choose one or two that I'm fairly certain they'll love and they'll tell me within the first 2 or 3 lines if it's "the one". But I have a few students who are super picky and just when I think I've figured out their "style" of music, they change their preferences on me. With them, I end up playing through a dozen or more pieces before they find one that they only kind of like. This week we are choosing the first of two pieces, and next week we'll select the second. Then the real fun begins!
